ISLAM.... a peaceful religion? You decide....
Many of you probably know my opinion on this subject, but i didn't want to just state my opinions i wanted to show you what the muslims actually believe... i personally know people in my church who were muslims about a year ago and came into the church and got saved and shared what they were taught as muslims and what happened when their families found out that they had become Christian.... anyway that's another story... but here are quotes directly from the Qur'an... decide for yourself....

Qur'an:48:16 "Say (Muhammad) to the wandering desert Arabs who lagged behind: 'You shall be invited to fight against a people given to war with mighty prowess. First off, I would really like to thank you for the very kind post that you left on my Blog under the post "Greasy Spoon." I really appreciated it and I'm happy people outside my group of friends are reading it!
I do have to say though that I felt that your "ISLAM.." post was terribly one-sided. How many people have been tortured, persecuted, raped, and murdered in the name of Christianity? Why didn't the Catholic Church acknowledge the Nazi persecution of the Jews as a morally reprehensible act? Or the fact that most divisions of the Christian faith not only condoned but SUPPORTED the Slave Trade? Or that the KKK was started by a group of Protestants? Or that the native population of this country was slaughtered by people bringing "Christ's love." The Bible may preach love and harmony, but the actions carried out in it's name are nothing of the sort.
I consider myself a faithful person. I believe in God and I believe in the good that can be found in everyone. And I also respect your opinion, please don't get me wrong. That's wonderful that you've taken the step to share your thoughts and feelings for everyone to see. That's a pretty courageous thing to do, and I applaud you for it. I just wanted to throw my two cents into the mix.

Thanks for your comment, but I must say that I was terribly disturbed by the accusation of my post being one-sided? Yes, it probably is a bit one-sided, but isn't that how the truth is? It is right or it is wrong, correct? Anyway, I don't desire to start an argument but I do however feel that many of the things you said are not truly thought out, yes there have been things done in the name of "Christianity that completely go against the very Word of God, and the catholic church has had a major role in many of these acts- the crusades, murdering protestants and Huguenots, and as you said not addressing the Nazi's persecution of the Jews. However, the catholic church, especially in Europe, has a different set of beliefs and a different Bible from the Christian church, now don't get me wrong I have catholic friends and relatives so I am not anti-catholic but Catholics in American and Catholics in Europe are very different! However Christians haven't been perfect either, but that is a flaw in human nature, the problem is that many Christians do not follow the Bible fully, because they are accused of being closed-minded, archaic, old-fashioned, etc.... but the Bible is full of commands to walk in love, etc. The Qu'ran on the other hand is full of commands to destroy, and this is not just being done by extreme terrorists, but by people within the religion that are normal followers of the Muslim faith. I am not saying this simply from things I’ve heard on the news, at church, or whatever, but from firsthand accounts! I have known and talked with many people who grew-up in Muslim families and countries. These people found that Christianity was real, it was true and because they converted they immediately put a death sentence on their head. One lady I knew became a Christian in her home country and her father found out and he and her brothers attempted to kill her, she escaped by the grace of God, but she can never return home for if she does she will be killed. In Middle Eastern countries Christians are not allowed to teach their beliefs as freely as the Muslims are allowed to teach their beliefs here in the US, if you teach the Bible you can be killed! I have known many ministers who have had bombs placed on their stage, death threats, been thrown into prison, etc all because they shared the Love of God and in return they receive the Wrath of Allah! I have known people here in the US who were Muslims and became Christians, they and their children were thrown out by their family and beat nearly to death and left for dead with no home and nowhere to go! All because they became a Christian! Another story involves the group of Sudanese men known as the Lost Boys. These young men were in Christian families in the country Sudan and lived in peace, until the Muslims came into political power. When the Muslims gained power the army marched around threatening people that if they didn't reject Christianity and convert to Islam they would be killed. These young boys watched as their families took a stand and refused to convert and turn their back on God. They watched their mothers and sisters being raped in front of their fathers and then their fathers being brutally tortured and killed as the soldiers laughed and then the sisters and sometimes the mothers were taken away to be labor and sex slaves. The young men fled and were able to escape this ruthless act running through the deserts, rivers, etc avoiding starvation, death from crocodiles and lions and other wild beasts, and much more many met their fate and died terrible deaths as they fled the Muslim armies but some survived and became a band of refugees going from country to country until the media discovered their story and many were brought to the US in order to have a better life!
Christians may not be perfect, but I have never heard of Christians beating up their family members and attempting to kill them because they left the faith, I have heard of them loving them and praying for them, but never trying to murder them!
I am sorry if you see my opinions as being one-sided, but despite your attempts to sound "open-minded" and "tolerant" of all beliefs, you yourself are ironically one-sided! The views I presented are from the Qu'ran itself and I must say that I am not just pulling scriptures our of the Muslims' book, but I have heard people who lived through the very things the Qu'ran orders and I have seen the look in their eye when they tell what they saw happen to the people they loved, the tears roll down their face as they talk of the cruelty and bondage that Islam places on its followers and how Christianity is liberating and real!
